Service Bodies include Open & Enclosed Bodies
Open service bodies are designed with an open cargo area, and compartments for tools, equipment, and supplies, offering organization and security.
Open service bodies offer easy access to tools and materials, making them suitable for jobs requiring frequent loading and unloading. Unlike enclosed service bodies, they do not have a fully enclosed compartment that the driver can enter.
They can be used for a wide range of applications, from construction and utilities to landscaping and maintenance.
Customer segments for service bodies include plumbers, carpenters, electricians, HVAC service contractors and other contractors.
Open Service Bodies have low sides, with height ranging from 36 inches to 42 inches. Length ranges from 6 ft. to 14 ft. and the standard height of external compartments is 42 inches. Compartment depths vary from 14 inches to 24 inches, with standard depth being 20 inches. The bodies sometimes also feature over-cab racks designed to haul lumber, pipes and ladders.
Most open service bodies are mounted on short-bed, single- or dual-wheel pickup truck chassis and conventional light- and medium-duty cab chassis. Pickup trucks include F series from Ford; Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Canyon and the Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Sierra from General Motors, and all pickup truck models from RAM Trucks.
