Beverage truck refers to a vehicle configuration with multiple storage bays designed to transport beverages in bottles or cans with individual doors to provide access to beverages from the vehicle.
Beverage truck bodies undertake both route and bulk deliveries.
Route deliveries are small-scale conventional deliveries, mainly to small and mid-size retail shops along local routes.
Bulk beverage deliveries are large-scale deliveries to distributor branches, restaurants and large retail stores, based on prior orders.
In recent years, manufacturers have increasingly been offering combination beverage bodies with both rear- and side-loading capabilities, with either roll-up doors or doors that can be top-hinged or side-hinged. These bodies have a narrow aisle in the middle for the driver to walk through, for loading and unloading pallets and carts through the rear access door. Carts and pallets are loaded and unloaded through the rear access doors, while smaller orders are loaded and unloaded through the side access doors. Combination units can thus undertake both bulk deliveries and route deliveries.
Beverage bodies are most commonly mounted on Class 5 to Class 7 medium- and heavy-duty cab chassis, with GVWR ranging from 19,500 lbs. to 33,000 lbs.
